I’m a person that got hurt when I was young. But because of my faith I decided to keep pushing. That’s who I am - I never give up. I've struggled a lot, but I never give up. That’s who I am now - I’m strong because of what happened to me in my life.
I’m a positive person. I don’t believe in because something bad happened to you that it’s going to ruin your life. You just have to let it go and keep going. That’s who I am.
ON FAITH AND HOPE
Number one priority to me is my family. And I tell them if I have to fight I will fight to protect one of you. Because you are my future. That’s what wakes me up every single day.
If I’m not fighting who will be fighting? Sometimes I say that it’s not fair that I go out to risk so much to build defend democracy in this country, but if I don’t do it who else will. I have six kids. One is 19 so she could handle herself maybe. But I still have five more. I have a little baby. If I don’t work or fight or do what I do then who will do it for me?
I want a future where we all get along together and work together. Because it doesn’t matter what race you are, doesn’t matter what color you are, you are God’s child. That is the only thing that matters – we are human beings. If you really care for God, then you will love the other person. Because that’s the only thing that matters and makes a good community. If you get along.
ON WORKING FOR CHANGE
I volunteer and do a lot of community services. It's my hope that this witness will plant a good seed in my children that when I'm too old to volunteer anymore that they will have it in their hearts to help the people around them. I teach them to help everyone - no matter their color or background. This is the only way we change the world - by supporting one another.
